Rehearsals for Charley's Aunt

Running from 18 to 28 August 2004, the show starred many of the town's favourite actors who have been so enthusiastically received in productions in the town in previous years, plays such as David Copperfield, Henry IV part 1 and A Tale of Two Cities.

Pictured above is Simon Cole who played Lord Fancourt Babberley and whose Harry Hotspur, Uriah Heep and Sydney Carton in previous Farnham seasons are recalled by our regular audiences with great affection.

Also captured during a break in rehearsals was Dennis Chinnery, who will be remembered for his Mr Creakle in David Copperfield and his fiery Owen Glendower in Henry IV. It was Dennis too who so touchingly portrayed Dr Manet in A Tale of Two Cities.

Ben Warwick returned after his debut season in Farnham in 2003. Audiences gave him a very warm welcome for his dashing portrayals of Prince Hal and David Copperfield.

Danny Brown is a much-loved character actor who has repeatedly shown us he can turn his hand to almost any challenge, be it lovable rogue or trusty friend. Poins, Mortimer, Ham, Traddles, Jerry Cruncher or Parisian peasant - he plays them all without breaking a sweat.

Professionals and public combine for Our Town

The New Farnham Repertory Company (NFRC) rounded off its late-summer season with a performance of 2004’s community play, Thornton Wilder’s Our Town.

The 20-strong cast was evenly split between seasoned professionals and members of the public.

The director of the play, Ian Mullins, chairman of the NFRC, said: "Every year it is a very exciting experience for everyone involved."

Mr Mullins enjoyed presenting the unorthodox play. He explained: "It is a lovely play about small town life, children growing up and falling in love. It is about living, growing old and passing on."

Our Town was performed at St Andrew's Church between 8th and 18th September. Mr Mullins added: "The play is marvellously suited to take place in a church."
