Auschwitz 1941. Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish priest, volunteers to take the place of another prisoner in the starvation cell ... What motivates such extraordinary self-sacrifice? What are the consequences for the survivor? This important new play explores the heights and depths of human experience. After 9/11 and the London bombings the themes of martyrdom, sacrifice and survival have an urgent topicality.

Father Kolbe (Stephen Chance)

and Franek (Brian Miller)

"I have rarely been more moved...I cannot recommend it too highly." Counsel Magazine

David Gooderson has hitherto been mainly known to Farnham audiences for his regular appearances in the NFRAC's productions and in television series such as Dr Who and A Touch of Frost.  Kolbe’s Gift is the first stage play he has written for the company, although his plays are regularly heard on BBC Radio. Kolbe received a rehearsed reading in St Andrew’s Church as part of the NFRAC 2005 season.
